Photo - Hunstanton South Beach at dusk 24/10/2013
Today I finally managed to get out and do some landscape photography. Since college it has always been my preference. With family life and work I sometimes have to let it go. When I do get the chance, I try to make sure it counts.
Tonights location was Hunstanton's South Beach. I arrived at 5.10pm in readiness for the sunset at 5.44pm (I have a couple of apps that help me with tide times and sunrise/sunset times).
I had my idea the night before, but didn't have time to wait which sometimes can be frustrating. To be fair the tide and sunset were more suitable for the photo I had in mind tonight.
I shoot on a Nikon D800 and use Cokin filters, ND grads to help with the sky, and ND filters to extend exposure times.
I had a couple of sighters before I got to do the photo I wanted. At just past 6pm conditions were right. I shot at 50 iso and got the exposure up to 8 seconds. With the sun just gone I often find that you get an effect that just looks magical.
After getting very wet feet and a salt encrusted tripod from sea water, I was done and headed for home to post process. I use a cross between Photoshop and Lightroom to get my final result. The final image is a stitch of 3 photos together to get the panoramic feel. I'd rather do that than crop.
Hope you like it, and thanks for your interest.
